What’s New at Breathe CrossFit: Challenge Winners, New Programs, and Getting Back to Basics

I’m Back (And Here’s Why I Left)

Let me be honest with you: I stopped recording podcasts, writing blogs, and sending out emails for over a month!

Why? Because I made the same mistake I see people make with fitness all the time.

I went from posting one podcast per week to thinking I could do seven days a week. And instead of pulling back when it got hard, I just… stopped completely.

Sound familiar?

It’s exactly what happens when someone goes from working out zero days a week to trying to train six days a week. You burn out. You quit.

So I’m taking my own advice: back to once a week. Consistency over perfection!

Fat Loss Challenge Winner: $1,025 Prize!

Our 6-week fat loss challenge just wrapped up, and the results were incredible!

We had 42 participants. $50 buy-in. Winner takes 50% of the pot.

The Results:

Loralee won with 16.1 lbs of fat loss (not just weight—actual fat measured on our InBody scan).

Phil came in a close second with 15.8 lbs of fat loss. He lost it by just 0.3 lbs!

But here’s what I love: Loralee is a woman, and she beat the men in this challenge! That matters because it’s often harder for women to lose fat than men due to muscle mass differences.

The Real Win:

Everyone who lost fat during this challenge was a winner. Some people learned that challenges work for them. Others learned they need one-on-one nutrition coaching instead.

Both are valuable.

I’m Back to Coaching Morning Classes

Starting this week, I’m back to coaching group classes!

When: Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 7:30 AM and 9:30 AM

7:30 AM Class: This is our beginner-friendly, high-energy, welcoming class. Mostly women (and a few guys like Danilo who love the supportive vibe). If you’re new or intimidated by CrossFit, this is your class!

9:30 AM Class: Our veterans. Smaller class. More attention. People like Chris Como (who just hit his 2,000th class!) and Jael (1,000th class). These folks have been training with us for years!

Both classes are coached, scalable, and designed to meet you where you’re at!

New Programs We’ve Launched

1. Free Mom’s Group (Thursdays 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM)

This is for moms with babies under one year old.

What happens:

  • First 30 minutes: Socialize
  • Next 30 minutes: Guest speakers (lactation consultants, pelvic floor therapists, infant physical therapists)
  • Last 30 minutes: Low-intensity bodyweight workout

Why we do this:

Postpartum is hard. Even if you look happy on the outside, it’s isolating and overwhelming some days. This group gives you a place to connect with other moms going through the same thing.

Plus, it gets you comfortable in our gym space. When you’re ready to join a gym, we want you to feel at home here.

2. Semi-Private Training (Tuesdays & Thursdays 10:30 AM)

This is for people who want individualized programming but can’t afford (or don’t want) full personal training.

What you get:

  • Customized program for YOUR goals
  • Small group (max 4 people)
  • Coach feedback in real-time
  • Fraction of the cost of 1-on-1 training

Right now, we have spots available on Tuesday mornings. We’re also adding a 5:00 AM session for men and women who need to train before work.

3. Family Workouts (Sundays)

$25 per family (bring your whole crew—kids, spouse, everyone).

We do short workouts mixed with games to keep it fun for all ages. Parents get a real workout. Kids have a blast.

Last week, parents even dropped their kids off while they ran errands. We made it work. It’s chaotic and we love it!

March Challenge: 5-Minute Daily Walks

I need help with my own fitness.

I’ve been a couch potato this winter. I used to walk 10,000 steps a day, but I haven’t been walking my dogs because “30 minutes sounds too long.”

Excuses? Maybe. Real? Absolutely.

So I’m doing a challenge for myself and inviting you to join.

The Challenge:

  • Walk for 5 minutes every single day in March
  • Indoors or outdoors (no excuses)
  • $10 to participate
  • Winner takes 50% of the pot

If I can carve out 5 minutes, you can too. Even if your baby didn’t sleep. Even if you’re tired. We’re doing this.
