I’m Back Full-Time (And It Feels Amazing)
I’m back at the gym full-time.
Coaching morning classes every single day except Saturdays. 7:30 AM and 9:30 AM, Monday through Friday and Sunday.
And honestly? It feels incredible.
Don’t get me wrong—the last 6 months with Hailey at home were special. I made it work. But it was also exhausting trying to get work done while she played, or having nursery rhymes on TV while I tried to focus.
Now she’s in daycare a few days a week and with my mother-in-law other days. When I’m working, I’m 100% present. When I’m with her, she gets 100% of my attention.
It’s peaceful. Busy. Exhausting. But so much better.
Why We Bought the Gym in the First Place
Eli and I didn’t buy Breathe CrossFit because we wanted to be business owners.
We bought it because we wanted to coach.
For the last few months, we stepped away from coaching to focus on growing the business and managing life with a newborn. That was necessary.
But being back to coaching—helping people, seeing them get stronger, celebrating their wins—that’s why we do this.
And it feels really good to be back.
The CrossFit Open is HERE (And It’s Chaos)
If you’re not familiar, the CrossFit Open happens every year around this time.
CrossFit headquarters releases a series of workouts, and anyone in the world can participate to compete for “Fittest on Earth.”
No one at Breathe CrossFit is going to win that title (let’s be real). But we do it anyway because it’s FUN.
How We Run our Intramural Open
We split our members into teams. Everyone earns points for their team by:
- Completing workouts
- Participating
- Showing up to Friday Night Lights
- Dressing up for theme nights
- Fun flash challenges
Week 1 Theme: Sports Night
Week 2 Theme: Superhero Night (happening now!)
Week 3 Theme: 80s Night
Flash Challenges Are Pure Chaos
This year, we added flash challenges between heats.
Fitness Challenge: One person from each team does as many burpees as possible in 60 seconds. Winner gets points.
Non-Fitness Challenge: Last week was an egg toss. Lauren and I won. I told her to slam the egg on the ground for dramatic effect. It made a mess. Worth it.
This week, Eli is planning new challenges but he won’t tell me what they are. I want to be surprised too!
Kids Heat + Cornhole Tournament
After the final workout next Saturday, we’re doing:
- A kids heat (bring your kids to do a scaled Open workout!)
- Cornhole tournament
- Potluck party (bring an appetizer with a recipe card)
It’s the most fun we have all year.
If you’re new to Breathe CrossFit and participating in your first Open, welcome! It might feel overwhelming, but stick with it. Once you’ve been training with us for a few months, you’ll realize CrossFit isn’t intimidating—it’s just community, fun, and a good workout.
Semi-Private Training is Expanding
We launched semi-private training a few weeks ago (personal training in a small group, max 4 people).
The response has been incredible.
Tuesdays at 10:30 AM: FULL
Thursdays at 10:30 AM: FULL
So we’re adding a new session.
NEW: Wednesdays at 5:00 PM
This session is specifically for working moms.
Moms who:
- Need to get their workout in after work
- Want guidance and individualization (not just a class)
- Want to be surrounded by other moms who get it
- Are ready to get back into fitness but need support
You get your own customized program. A coach gives you real-time feedback. And you train alongside other women in the same season of life.
Babies are welcome to come with you. We have a separate section of the gym for semi-private, so you’re not in the middle of a CrossFit class.
If this sounds like you, book a free intro and let’s talk about whether semi-private is the right fit.
Family Workouts Every Sunday ($25 Per Family)
Bring your whole family. Kids of all ages. Your spouse. Everyone.
We do a mix of workouts and games to keep it fun for everyone.
Three-year-olds stay engaged. Teenagers have a blast. Parents get a real workout.
When: Sundays at 9:00 AM
Cost: $25 per family (yes, the whole family)
It’s a fun, cheap way to get out of the house and move your body together.
What’s Next
The Open wraps up next week. Then we transition into spring programming and new challenges.
But if you’ve been thinking about joining, now’s the time.
The energy during the Open is unmatched. Come check out Friday Night Lights this week (Superhero Night!) and see what Breathe CrossFit is all about.
